A boat trip, a sunny garden, and the most beautiful yes, captured in the heart of the Lake District.
Langdale Chase, one of Windermere's most romantic settings
If you're searching for the perfect location for a surprise proposal in the Lake District, without venturing high into the fells, it's hard to imagine anywhere more magical than Langdale Chase on the shores of Windermere.
This stunning Victorian country house hotel, nestled between ancient woodland and England's longest natural lake is truly special.
As a Lake District proposal photographer, I've had the privilege of witnessing some truly extraordinary moments in the Cumbrian landscape. This one, was something very special indeed.

A boat trip across Windermere
It started on the lake. A boat trip across Windermere on board the Langdale Chase steamer, with the fells reflecting in still water. On this morning, the lake was doing what it does best!
For couples considering a Windermere engagement, a boat trip along the lake is an unforgettable way to begin. The landscape here shifts constantly, it is, the Lake District at its most romantic.
Capturing the surprise proposal at Langdale Chase
Back on land, the couple wandered through the grounds of Langdale Chase with me hiding ready to capture the moment! The hotel's gardens are really beautiful spilling down toward the water's edge through beds of colour, complete with jetty and huge swing!
This is why Langdale Chase is one of my favourite spots for Lake District proposal photography. The gardens provide natural framing with glimpses of the lake through the trees making photographs feel effortless. Couples who choose this location rarely need direction; the setting does everything!
If you're planning a surprise proposal in the Lake District and wondering whether to book a photographer, the answer is yes! These are the moments you will want to see exactly as they happened, forever. Find out more about my proposal photography packages here.
