Lake District Newborn Photographer

The early days with your newborn pass in a blur. Tender, quiet, and full of feeling.
Let me gently guide you through a calm, natural session that honours this fleeting season.
We pause for feeds, cuddles, and whatever your baby needs.
There's no rush — just a relaxed atmosphere, so you come away with images you'll treasure for a lifetime.
Calm, baby-led newborn photography
Welcoming a new baby is one of the most beautiful moments in life. While it's natural to feel apprehensive - whether it's adjusting to life as a new parent, not feeling 'camera-read', or worrying about the logistics - those early days are worth preserving.
Your baby will only be this tiny for a short time and capturing those delicate features are something you'll treasure forever.
Working with me, I'm here to make the process comfortable, stress-free and enjoyable. Together we'll create timeless images that tell the story of your growing family, no matter how you feel right now. Let me take care of the details - you'll be so glad you did.
Of course, we can't predict exactly when baby will arrive, but get in touch a few months before your due date and we can tentatively set a date, which we can then keep flexible.
And if your baby is already here, no you haven't left it too late. I capture lots of 3, 6, 9 month old babies and each stage brings its own unique delight.
How much does Newborn Photography Cost?
My newborn baby photography sessions start from £350, including a gallery of 40+ beautifully edited images.
Newborn photos at home or outdoors
Newborn sessions usually take place in your home or outdoors. You home can work well because everything is familiar and comfortable. It doesn't need to be spotless and we normally just find a calm corner by a window.
For families who prefer it, gentle outdoor sessions are beautiful. We find a calm spot close to home and guided by what feels right for you and your baby.
Including parents, siblings, pets and the in-between moments
Newborn photography isn’t just about the baby. It’s about the shift that happens when they arrive. Siblings, parents, hands reaching in, quiet moments between feeds. These are often the images that grow in meaning over time.
When to book newborn photography in the Lake District
Many families book their newborn session before their baby arrives, with flexibility built in around their due date. Sessions usually take place within the first few months, but there’s no strict window. What matters most is that you feel ready!

Newborn Photography FAQs
What age is best for newborn photographs?
Newborn photography is special at any age! The ideal timing depends on the kind of photos you want:
-
First 2 weeks: Perfect for capturing the tiny, curled-up poses that highlight your baby’s newness. Babies tend to sleep more during this stage, making it easier to achieve those sweet, peaceful shots.
-
4–8 weeks: Babies begin to open their eyes and develop their personalities. We can focus on curious gazes and soft expressions.
-
3+ months: Your baby might start smiling, holding their head up, or even showing off some giggles. This is a wonderful time to highlight their growing milestones.
I love working with babies of all ages! When you contact me, let me know your baby’s age, and I’ll tailor the session to celebrate their unique stage.
Can we include extended family or pets on the newborn photoshoot?
Yes, newborn shoots with siblings are magic. I'm also happy to include grandparents and pets. Having the whole family together makes for wonderful images, but if you're planning this then let me know during the planning stages so we can schedule and plan according to everyone's needs.
Is it best to take newborn photography indoors or outdoors?
There's certainly something special about capturing newborn photographs here against the majestic Lake District - and I know some fantastic accessible spots that work well for newborn photoshoots. While I'm happy to photograph in all types of weather, your baby's comfort are my top priorities. If the weather isn't ideal for an outdoor session we can easily move the shoot to an indoor location. You'll be surprised how well your home will work and it doesn't need to be large or immaculate. I also shoot newborn photography from home - should this be your preference.
