Pregnancy Photography in the Lake District

The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 to 36 weeks (7-8 months). During this period, your baby bump is beautifully visible, and you’ll still feel comfortable enough to move around. However, every pregnancy is different, so choose a time that feels best for you.

Absolutely! The Lake District offers stunning natural backdrops, from mountain peaks and serene lakes to lush green valleys. Whether you prefer a dramatic landscape or a peaceful woodland setting, outdoor maternity photoshoots capture the beauty of nature alongside your journey into motherhood.

The Lake District is known for its unpredictable weather, but this can add a unique and magical touch to your photos. Overcast skies create soft, flattering light, while a light drizzle can add a romantic, misty effect. If the weather is extreme, your safety and comfort comes first so we can reschedule or choose a sheltered location.

It’s entirely up to you! Many mums-to-be love having their partner, children, or even pets in the majority of their photos with a selection just of themself. And some clients choose to capture this moment in their lives alone focusing entirely on capturing the connection with your baby bump. Both options are perfect! And you don't need to share this detail at time of booking.

The key is to wear something comfortable and timeless. On booking I send over a style guide and have a few beautiful pregnancy dresses in my client wardrobe available to borrow. Let me know in advance so we can plan accordingly. I also recommend bringing a couple of outfits for a maternity session to show of that beautiful bump!

I’ll gently guide you with prompts and suggestions, but I don’t expect you to do stiff or awkward poses. Instead, I focus on movement, emotion and connection, ensuring you feel comfortable and beautiful throughout the session.

Many of my clients say they were nervous at first but ended up having a fun and effortless experience! I'm a chatterbox on photoshoots and you won't have space to feel uncomfortable. If the location we choose is busy, we'll simply move to somewhere quieter for privacy.

Your edited maternity photos will typically be ready within 2-3 weeks after your session.
