 • Stone Circle – magical at sunset.
 • Buttermere, Crummock Water – quieter, dramatic landscapes for something bold.

Every couple is different, so every proposal is too. You can keep it simple and heartfelt or go all out with extras like champagne, flowers, or even a styled picnic. I can bring flowers along straight from a local flower grower for you to gift to your partner following the moment from £50. Champagne is another popular add on, I'm happy to bring. For grander set-ups I also work with a local concierge service who can bring your vision to life.

This isn’t just about documenting a proposal, it’s about capturing the story, the reaction, the laughter (and sometimes the tears). I work quietly in the background so the focus stays on the two of you, while you end up with a set of images you’ll treasure forever. It also makes an awesome Save The Date you can use for your wedding!

What if it rains?

It’s the Lake District, so weather is always part of the adventure. We can embrace it (dancing in the rain, moody skies can make for amazing photos), I also always have clear umbrellas in my car. If you'd prefer not to get wet or the weather is very stormy I’ll switch up the timings or we can plan a sheltered alternatives as a backup.

Will you photograph us after the proposal too?

Absolutely. Most couples love a short engagement session right after, while you’re still buzzing with excitement. It gives you a mix of candid and slightly more styled shots.

What should I wear for a Lake District Proposal?

Wear something you feel confident in but also comfortable moving around in. If your plan includes walking, uneven paths, lakeside grass or fells, think smart but practical:
 • boots or trainers you can comfortably walk in
 • trousers or a warm layer if the weather turns
 • nothing that needs constant adjusting
Smart casual works perfectly for most Lake District proposals: neat, simple and put-together, without feeling overdressed for the outdoors.

What should my partner wear if it’s a surprise?

If you’re keeping it secret, the key is plausible reasoning, not styling.
A few easy lines that work well:
 • “Let’s take a couple of nice photos while we’re there, I’ll be dressed a bit smarter so you might want to as well.”
 • “I booked a birthday/anniversary mini shoot so wear something you love."
 • “We're going for dinner after our stroll so bring an outfit you like and a coat you can pop over.”
Give them a reason to choose something they’d genuinely enjoy being photographed in, without raising suspicion.

Should we match?

Not match-match — just aim for the same level of smartness and a similar colour tone.
If you’re in tracksuit and trainers and they’re in heels and silk, it will feel uneven.
If you’re both in neutral, soft, comfortable clothes, it will feel cohesive without trying.

Can she be dressed up and wear heels?

I think my girlfriend will want to be dressed up for our proposal, can she where heels. Absolutely, but if this is important to you let me know in advance and we can plan for a suitable location.
